Grateful Dead to drop unheard live tracks from 1973
Thursday 04 May 2023
The Grateful Dead will release a new limited-edition boxset, Here Comes Sunshine 1973, containing a series of previously unreleased concerts from the band's shows in San Francisco, Santa Barbara, and two shows in Washington D.C. The boxset features 17 CDs of live recordings from the band's concerts between May 13 and June 10, which had remained unreleased until now. The band's legacy manager, David Lemieux, said 1973 was an important year in the band's career as it had a fresh, nimble feel that was entirely different from the 1972 Dead sound. The boxset, limited to 10,000 copies and costing $190, will also be available digitally. The Grateful Dead's first video on TikTok, a 30-second compilation of archival concert footage, artwork, interviews, and more, was released last month.
