This walk is part of the 'Many Walks of Wellington's Streams' event for the Wellington Heritage Festival 2024. It will be hosted by the Kia Mouriora te Kaiwharawhara Sanctuary to Sea Project Lead - Dr Nate Rigler. Nate will lead an educational walk through the Ōtari-Wilton's Bush section of the Kaiwharawhara stream discussing aspects of the awa including the whakapapa of its name, previous attempts at stream restoration and the ambitious 100 yr plan to restore the mouri of the stream currently being undertaken by the collaborative Kia Mouriora te Kaiwharawhara Sanctuary to Sea initiative. This walk will have a capacity of 25 people and will run for approx 90 min. All participants will be required to sign a health and safety waiver to ensure they can take responsibility for their safety during the duration of the walk. Children under 16 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A reserve day is set for 17 Nov in the event of weather disruption on the day. Meet at the lower Northern entrance to Ōtari-Wiltons Bush.
