Local artists Glenys Courtney-Strachan and Miria Kalman will exhibit Te Huringa / Transformation at The Arts Village.

Glenys is a Hoarder. Her ongoing fascination with assembling used and found objects gives her a playful imagination and a new way of seeing.
Glenys’s current preoccupation is with Tiki and Kurangaituku and their transformation and morphing. These bold bricolages stem from local pūrākau and push the boundaries between reality and unreality.

Miria is an artist who draws inspiration from raranga practices: shaped in real time, fold by fold, layered to last generations. Intentionally paralleled Miria’s work is a mindful process representative of the patterns observed in her marae, Tipapa. Each pattern contains all: the moments between (matter), above (light), and below (dark). Past and future, bound in the eternal present.
