About the event

Let’s celebrate our own beautiful vessels with all their lumps and dimples, bumps and pimples, sags and tags, tits and tatts!

Join Dominique Ford, one of our Pot House resident artists, to hand build your own beautiful vessel, a jug with jugs! Or perhaps just nips or just cheeks… whatever features you'd like to celebrate.

Dominique will guide participants though hand building and forming a jug and any desired sticky-outie-bits. Then, the jugs can be underglazed with little surface details. Each piece will be left to be picked up after the have been glazed and fired by Dominique.

A ceramic artist with a background in graphic design and children's book illustration, Dominique has three adult children and lives with her husband and some cats in rural Tauranga. Dominique describes her ceramics as fun and freaky, cute and creepy. "Do they want to hug you, or eat you?" Inspired by slugs, bugs and sea things; triffids, tentacles and body parts, Domonique believes everybody needs a vase to put pretty flowers in, especially if it has eyeballs, teeth and tentacles.

You can see Dominiques work on her Instagram @precocious_vessels or visit them, and Dom herself, in the flesh at The Pot House in the Historic Village, Tauranga.
