Friends and frequent collaborators Barbara Paterson (soprano) and Gabriela Glapska (piano) present a concert of luminous art songs from past and present Europe and Aotearoa. Accomplished soloists and chamber musicians with various professional ensembles around the country, their previous collaborations include Olivier Messiaen’s towering song cycle "Harawi" for the Christchurch Arts Centre Chamber Series, Francis Poulenc’s monodrama "La voix humaine" (The Human Voice) for the 2020 Aotearoa Festival of the Arts, and Karol Szymanowski’s "Pieśni muezina szalonego" (Songs of the Infatuated Muezzin) for the SMP Ensemble and Classical on Cuba. This new programme highlights the duo’s gleeful, keen interest in contemporary art music, while staying true to their deep affection for the lush romanticism of 19th century Lieder.

Featuring works by Dame Gillian Karawe Whitehead, Robert Schumann, Rosa Elliott, Kaija Saariaho, György Kurtág and Salina Fisher
