This year's conference marks a significant milestone for Music Therapy New Zealand Te Rōpū Puoro Whakaora o Aotearoa (MThNZ) and celebrates 50 years as a professional practice. Friday night’s Anniversary Celebration also marks the 20-year anniversary of the Master of Music Therapy course, jointly hosted by MThNZ and Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington. A further milestone will be the launch of a book detailing the history of Music Therapy in New Zealand. Conference attendees will receive a copy as part of their registration (in person attendees only).With the ethos of bringing our wider global community together in inclusive ways for dialogue and celebration, we are proud to present Music Therapy New Zealand’s first hybrid conference which includes a weekend of 49 presentations and 64 presenters from New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, India, Japan, USA and Canada.We welcome music therapists, allied health professionals, government and non-government representatives, users of music therapy services and anyone who would like to learn more about this powerful medium that brings about positive change.50th Anniversary Conference Programme(Programme may be subject to updates)Dates and venuesThe Anniversary Celebration on Friday 13 September will be held at the Hunter Council Chamber, Victoria University, Kelburn Campus. MThNZ’s 50th Anniversary Conference on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September is located at the Wharewaka Function Centre, Cable Street in central Wellington.RegistrationRegistration options include attendance in person or online attendance for MThNZ members, non-members, students/concession. Online attendees will be provided with a link and be able to watch live the sessions in Makaro, Matiu and Mokopuna rooms. All registrants, including those who purchase online registration, will receive access to an online package of recordings of most conference sessions for a six month period after conference.
