Tiny Ruins announce a not so tiny tour in Aotearoa!

Thursday 09 March 2023

Hollie Fullbrook and her Tiny Ruins bandmates Cass Basil (King Sweeties, Carnivorous Plant Society), Alex Freer (A.C. Freazy, BUB) and guitarist / producer Tom Healy will be opening up a fresh chapter with the launch of their forthcoming first album in four years Ceremony. The globally feted group's new record is out in full on 28th April, to be celebrated with a just-announced nationwide release tour, taking the acclaimed musical fellowship on an epic eight date adventure across Aotearoa, concluding with a headline shows at Tāmaki Makaurau's opulent Hollywood Avondale.

An artist whose storied oeuvre includes collaborations with David Lynch (2016 single 'Dream Wave'), Hamish Kilgour (2015's Hurtling Through EP) and British author David Mitchell, Hollie Fullbrook today treats fans to lush new single 'Dogs Dreaming' and accompanying visualiser clip. Written while visiting the Āwhitu peninsular (site of Tiny Ruins' gorgeous clip for 'Dorothy Bay') — "when Hollie Fullbroook surveyed the isolated lighthouse alone at dusk, freaking herself out in the process".

Traversing influences that cross genre and era, the artistry of Hollie Fullbrook and her band spans delicate folk, lustrous dream pop and ebullient psychedelia. Building on the sparse arrangements and a novelist's eye for detail cultivated over the past several years, the group's greatly anticipated fourth album is out on Ba Da Bing Records, Marathon Artists and Courtney Barnett's label Milk! Records. If Olympic Girls was an album suffused with existential emptiness, portraits often sketched from afar or in empty buildings, Ceremony zooms right in, unafraid of intimacy and connection. Now over a decade in, Hollie Fullbrook's evolution as Tiny Ruins has reached an apex of power, as she's become a deft bandleader of incredible musicians.
