The Grogans reveal support acts for 'Which Way Is Out' tour
Thursday 16 February 2023
Melbourne based genre expanding trio The Grogans are heading our way later this month for their second ever tour of Aotearoa following their sold out run of shows in 2022. Today they are stoked to announce a slew of supports across their headline shows.
Joining them at Meow, Wellington will be Michael Llewellyn with full band. Descried as ‘raspy, soft and bouncy’, Llewellyn has a knack for honest lyricism with wistful melodies and is sure to get the audience swaying. Also on the bill for Meow is Wet Denim. The indie rock newcomers have just released their debut self titled EP and played Outfield, Cape Estate Festival and are no strangers to their hometown Wellington live circuit, having played multiple shows to an ever expanding fan base since forming last year.
For their free show at Queenstown’s Yonder, Christchurch band Pool House will be supporting. Having won University of Canterbury’s ‘Dig The Gig’ – a competition to find the best live music band just last year, Pool House are excited to get the Queenstown party started.
Joe Ghatt and Flaxxies will both share support duties in Auckland. Steeped in 60s era psych, Joe Ghatt has a way of effortlessly fusing classic and nostalgic music with his own authentic and potent sound. Auckland based reggae/surf rock band Flaxxies released their second EP Beach Rudes in 2022 and most recently played to a packed crowd at Raglan’s Soundsplash.
In Raglan, local six-piece Rat Café will bring their laid back and blissed out vibes to the stage. Their latest single ‘Love Island’ is out now. No strangers to the stage, Rat Café have been honing their live show with a slew of dates over Summer. Raglan get ready.
Alongside these headline dates, The Grogans will also play Afterglow at Mrs O’s, part of Christchurch’s Lincoln University’s O-Week on Wednesday 22 Feb, OneFest at Union Lawn as part of University Of Otago’s O-Week on Friday 24 Feb and Beast of a Feast in Mt Maunganuion Saturday 4 March.
Touring in support of their latest album Which Way Is Out The Grogans are a trio of best mates from Melbourne who explore nuanced maneuvers in surf, punk, blues, garage, psych and rockabilly.
The Grogans have supported the likes of Ocean Alley, The Chats, Hockey Dad, Northeast Party House, and Drunk Mums as well as festivals & showcases during 2022 including a Rolling Stone x Sailor Jerry Showcase, NYE on the Hill (VIC), Great Escape Festival (TAS).
Tickets for all shows are on sale now through the below outlets, except Queenstown which is a free show and is first in first served at the door on the night.
