The Beths Sign to ANTI-, Drop New Single “Metal,” and Announce Massive International Tour

Thursday 15 May 2025

Auckland indie-rock powerhouses The Beths have kicked off a huge new chapter, announcing their signing to acclaimed LA label ANTI- and releasing a brand new single and video titled “Metal.” The track marks the first fresh material from the band since their 2023 deluxe edition of Expert In A Dying Field, and it delivers a jangle-fuelled, lyrically raw meditation on the body, identity, and survival.

Frontwoman Elizabeth Stokes describes “Metal” as a response to the physical and emotional wear of years spent on the road. “For parts of the last few years, I kind of felt like my body was a vehicle that had carried me pretty well thus far but was breaking down,” she says. “And yet here we are… still marvelling at the complexity of such a machine.”

Musically, “Metal” pulses with The Beths’ signature energy—layered acoustic strums, bright 12-string guitar lines, and intricate, propulsive rhythms. The band recorded the track with longtime collaborators, capturing what Stokes calls “the frenetic intricacy of an engine in action.”

The track’s accompanying video, shot on a rainy farm in Leigh by creative duo Sports Team (Annabel Kean and Callum Devlin), sees the band suited up in wet-weather gear, searching for literal and metaphorical scraps of metal.

Alongside the new single, The Beths have announced an ambitious 49-date tour across North America, the UK, and Europe this northern hemisphere autumn. The tour includes some of their biggest shows yet, with stops at The Wiltern (LA), The Fillmore (San Francisco), The Salt Shed (Chicago), Brooklyn Paramount, and 9:30 Club (Washington, DC).

Tickets for all dates are on sale now. Full details available via The Beths' official channels. This next era is shaping up to be their boldest yet.
