Over half of TikTok's biggest global tracks of the summer are independently distributed

The rise of independent artists continues to be a significant trend in the music industry this year. Recent Luminate statistics show that indie artists are gaining ground on major labels in streaming market share.
A notable example is K-Pop powerhouse HYBE, which plans to establish an artist services business in the U.S. in response to a growing demand for change in the fragmented traditional business model.
This summer, TikTok revealed that 60% of the Top 10 songs globally were independently distributed. On August 19, TikTok shared its list of the Top 10 Songs of the Summer, ranked by total creations for Summer 2024.
