Laneway Festival upsizes to accomodate demand

Tuesday 25 October 2022

Auckland Indie music festival Laneway has announced a venue change, from Albert Park to Western Springs Stadium, due to massive ticket demand. After an almost three-year hiatus due to covid restrictions, tickets to the upcoming festival sold out in just 90 minutes, for the first time in the event’s decade-long history.

Laneway will still take place on Auckland’s Anniversary Day, Monday January 30, 2023.

Australian indie rock band, The Jungle Giants have also been added to the lineup, joining acts like Finneas O’Connell, brother of Billie Eilish, Haim, Joji, Phoebe Bridgers and The Beths.

“The decision to move is bittersweet,” said festival co-founder Danny Rogers.

“Albert Park has been our much-loved home since 2017 ... Our team is working hard to ensure we bring the magic of Laneway to the new venue, which will have improved production but still feel uniquely Laneway.”

A new pre-sale starts on Wednesday, October 26 at 9am. General public tickets go on sale Thursday, October 27 at 9am from the Laneway Festival website.

All tickets purchased for Albert Park will be valid for the new venue.
