Juicy Fest: first time festival shaping up for sell out... promoter Glenn Meikle update

Friday 23 December 2022

The excitement is building for NZ's newest festival, Juicy Fest, which kicks off Jan 5th in Napier. He’s a busy man but we checked in with Promoter Glenn Meikle to get a heads up on how the festival is shaping up.

So the countdown is on for Juicy Fest - what inspired the festival and how long has it been in the planning?

The idea of an old-school R&B and hip-hop tour that not only brings some of the biggest names in the genres together but is also widely accessible beyond just the main centres has been something the team has been wanting to make happen for a while now. We’ve been working hard on this project for more than a year and we’re excited that the end result of the team’s hard work and dedication is near.

Logistically it’s a big undertaking. Can you share the biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge has been making sure we are catering to everyone. Juicy Fest 2023 is the inaugural event and when you’re dealing with a new brand, you can start out quite modest in your expectations. With some of our shows selling out and the festival attracting high demand, we’ve had to reshape some of our venues

An amazing line-up of RnB greats, what has the artist's reaction been to being invited to play down under?

Juicy Fest 2023 features a star-studded line-up of major R&B and hip-hop hitmakers. With iconic R&B and hip-hop stars such as Nelly, Ne-Yo, Ja Rule, Bow Wow, Xzibit, Pretty Ricky, Mya, Chingy, Lloyd and Twista all set to perform at Tauranga’s Juicy Fest, all performers are sure to spark a sense of nostalgia for the many music lovers in the audience.

Every Juicy Fest artist is looking forward to visiting New Zealand and Australia, bringing their own style to the stage and taking in the vibe of each centre’s local crowds.

What do you see as the points of difference to the festival?

One of the major points of difference of Juicy fest 2023 is that we are bringing such big names in the music industry, Grammy Award-winning artists, to multiple centres around NZ and Australia, including locations that are often left off tour schedules, ensuring this quality of tour is widely accessible.

Can you give us an update on ticket availability and any other updates you have that we can share?

Less than 10 percent of tickets are available across the whole tour. Most of our venues are about to sell-out, which is an amazing response and makes us work even harder to deliver the best show.
