To mark the 40th anniversary of Dancing In The Street, the legendary 1985 collaboration between David Bowie and Mick Jagger has received a full 4K restoration. Using the original film negative, the video has been remastered to high resolution for the first time—bringing new clarity and vibrancy to one of pop’s most exuberant and spontaneous moments.

Originally recorded and filmed in just one day, the video was meant as a transatlantic live duet for Live Aid, but technical delays forced a change of plan. Instead, Bowie and Jagger met at London’s Westside Studios, recorded the track, and shot the video in a 13-hour whirlwind. “We had such a laugh doing ‘Dancing In The Street’,” Jagger recalled. “The video is hilarious to watch now… we enjoyed camping it up and trying to impersonate each other’s moves, making it up as we went along.”
The remastered video release accompanies a limited edition 12” white vinyl reissue of the single, due August 29. The reissue collects all versions of the song for the first time and will see 30% of retail sales go to the Band Aid Charitable Trust.
First released in August 1985, the track shot to No. 1 in the UK and No. 7 in the U.S., with all proceeds going toward famine relief. Now, four decades on, the reissue and video remaster celebrate the track’s enduring energy—and the only recorded collaboration between two of rock’s most iconic frontmen.
