Auckland Blues Festival postponed

Following last years false start due to COVID, the eagerly awaited Auckland Blues Festival has had to make the tough decision to postpone due to the weather. 

Organisers issued the following statement.

Dear Auckland Blues Festival supporters,

AUCKLAND BLUES FESTIVAL POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER CONCERNS

NEW DATE TO BE ADVISED 

We regret to inform you that after last year’s covid situation, we have now been dealt a weather bomb for this year’s planned event which will almost certainly result in heavy rains with possible heavy wind gusts. Multiple weather forecasters along with local knowledge of the site's unique (and normally amazing) weather patterns all agree that the show date will not be suitable to run the event. The potential for high winds coming from an easterly direction is of particular concern and may put our stretch tent shelters outside of their safety parameters. Clearly this is not something we can risk.

We know many of you will be disappointed as we are. We were all getting really excited. The show production was looking stunning, all of the artists were primed and all of their special custom guitars, Rhodes pianos, drum kits & fancy music equipment were tuned, the site was prepped and the team, pumped. The decision to postpone the show was not made lightly. We considered moving to an indoor venue but believe that would have been short-changing our supporters and undermining the beautiful show we have planned for you. 

We will be in touch as soon as we can with new show details. In the meantime, thank you all again for your support and thank you for your patience. We look forward to hosting you all at what we know will be a magical event early in the new year.
