Bay of Plenty ANZAC Day 2021 Commemorations

Join us this Anzac Day, Sunday, 25 April, at one of the many services being held throughout the region.

Anzac Day is a national day to commemorate those who died serving New Zealand during war while honouring returned and current servicemen and women, past and present.

Tauranga Dawn Service
5.45am to 7.00am, Tauranga RSA Cenotaph, 1237 Cameron Road, Tauranga

5.45am – assemble at Hayes Avenue
5.55am – march off
6.00am – service begins

Mount Maunganui Dawn Service
5.45am to 7am, Mount Maunganui Cenotaph, Marine Parade, opposite Hopukiore (Mount Drury)

5.45am – assemble at Hopukiore (Mount Drury)
5.55am – march off
6.00am – service begins

Tauranga Civic Memorial Service
8.45am to 10.30am, Tauranga Memorial Park, Eleventh Avenue

8.45am – assemble on the grass beside Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre
8.55am – march off
9.00am – service begins

Mount Maunganui Civic Memorial Service
9.15am to 10.30am at Mount Maunganui Cenotaph, Marine Parade, opposite Hopukiore (Mount Drury).

9.15am – assemble at Hopukiore (Mount Drury)
9.25am – march off
9.30am – service begins

Papamoa Civic Memorial Service
11.45am to 1pm, Papamoa Memorial, Stella Place carpark, Papamoa Beach Road.

11.45am – assemble at Papamoa Memorial (near Papamoa Pony Club)
11.55am – march off
12.00pm – service begins

Carparking is available for mobility cardholders only in the Stella Place carpark.

Katikati Dawn Service
Katikati War Memorial Hall, Main Road, Katikati

5.45am – assemble at the Talisman Hotel
5.55am – march to Katikati War Memorial Hall
6am – service begins

Road closures, and a detour, will be in place from Talisman Hotel to the Katikati War Memorial Hall between 5am-7am.

Te Puke Civic Service
Te Puke War Memorial Hall, 130 Jellicoe Street, Te Puke

9.50am – March to War Memorial Hall
10.00am – Service start

Maketu Dawn Service
In front of Anzac rock, Beach Road, Maketu

5.45am – assemble at the Beach Road carpark
5.55am – march to Anzac rock
6.00am – service begins

Rotorua Dawn Service
Ohinemutu, Rotorua

5.45am – Gather at Ohinemutu
5.50pm – Parade march to Muruika Soldiers’ Cemetery (by St Faith’s Church)
6.00am – Dawn Service begins with a mihi (welcome) from Te Arawa Māori Returned Services League
Prayers – Reverend Tom Poata ANZAC Dedication followed by hymn and guest speaker.

Rotorua Civic Memorial Service
9.00am to 10.30am at Energy Events Centre, Rotorua

The officiating Minister will be Reverend Tom Poata, with Her Worship the Mayor Steve Chadwick introducing this year’s guest speakers: Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral Proctor, and student representatives from Rotorua Girls High School.

Kawerau ANZAC Dawn Service
5.30am to 7.00am at the Ex-Navalmans Club, Kawerau

5.30am – Assemble at Ex-Navalmans Club
5.45am – ANZAC Day Dawn Service

Honourable Peeni Henare Minister of Defence will be attending both Whakatane Services.
Refreshments and entertainment will be provided at the RSA once the Civic Service is completed.
